I am a cross country coach for a high school in the midlands. We practice, its our home course, and host meets at the Clemson Extention. Awesome place for a cross country team, runners and bike riders that is open to the public! What i did not know it is our columbia stingers practice field! Today my team had practice and i see a group of men having a practice and it was Stingers! My question is with nothing really going on in the Colonial Center right now why cant they have practice there?? Maybe, atleast once or twice a week? Is it the cost? Is it the break down of the field? I am sure if it was putting up and taking down the field the player would not mind helping out. I could help on some occasions!!!!

It's pretty common around the indoor leagues for teams to practice outside. Sometimes are more lucky than others on their indoor practice times. Others may only get inside a day or two before a home game.

i understand that but if the venue is not being used why not use it? The only event going on until june 28th is the stingers? Why even break down the field? Unless there are private functions going on i can understand that as well. To me it looks like a waste not to use it with nothing going on. Maybe by them practicing on it they could be better? The kicking game could use the practice too.

pfunk - I'm assuming you coach at Ridge View High School? I was a cross country/track runner at Richland Northeast High. And then a cross country runner at Newberry College. It's sad that the whole Richland 2 dynasty that started my senior year came to a close in track or at least, took a vacation

I am the asst coach for Spring Valley boys. So you know Coach Foley?? The coach that won 2 of the 3 state track for RV is now at dorman who just won the 07 track title. The coach for RV now is more of a basketball guy and kind of got throw into the mix. What year did you graduate ncxcstud?

Hmm...I know of Jeff Buys, and I know the guy he replaced as well (who was the old runner/student/coach of RNE). I know Coach Foley, but when I was running (2000 and 2001) she wasn't the coach. Allison Clary (now Knuckley) was my coach for CC and Touissant Kennedy was my head track coach. I always thought RV only trained at the Clemson Extension, it's amazing how much that place has improved since I was in high school . I graduated in 2001 and was on the RNE State Championship team. I ran the mile and ran 4:36.9 to finish 6th in the state that year. I definitely don't run as much as I used to (got burnt out) but my wife and I plan on doing the Vista Night Run in August.

Thats awesome man, well i have only been a volunteer asst going on my 2nd yr cc and 3yr track while at USC. I ran at summerville for bob crowley cc and Steve wilson track. The new coach at RV is a cool guy last yr we never saw rv run, but sv been training there for a couple of years and is our home course. You are not the only one that needs to run again, you should come out to CE we practice at 7pm and its a awesome place to run. How long did you run at Newberry? I ran at Spartanburg Methodist for one year in 02.

Folks as a former Arena football do boy for the Spartans by the way Charleston Knights the Georgia Rajun Bulls have your number. Anyway the Augusta Spartans as well as other teams have probably practiced less than three days on their field all season. Our excuse is money it cost the Augusta Spartans $ 800.00 a game to pay civic center personel for field prep. It would really benefit the kickers to get practice inside.
Civic centers require their people to be on hand to so that cost money. Some teams with money are building their own outside practice areas and renting them out to the kids in the off season. This will benefit the commuinity and will help the youth indoor football league.
WHICH FOLKS IS THE KEY TO MAKING IT IN ARENA BALL. Next season in Stinger land maybe the powers that be will have a chance to get the field for youth indoor football at least two days before gametime.
good night folks great to be a GA Rajun Bull
