Hey Fans...
The Stingers have released their finalized Home Game Schedule for the '07 season. It's been rocky, but I'm telling you, the front office is working their tails off to get this thing turned around and be in a better position for all of us next year.
Here are the remaining Home Games for the Columbia Stingers:
May 25, 2007, 7:00 PM Fayetteville Guard June 2, 2007, 7:00 PM Cincinnati Marshalls June 19, 2007, 7:00 PM Atlanta Thoroughbreds
Bring your friends, your family, heck....bring your boss! Let's show this team we love 'em and that we're behind them even if the league isn't! Columbia has something special brewing.....let's all be a part of it!

Pfunk...for all practical purposes, this team is out of the NIFL. Columbia, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Atlanta and Dayton have formed their OWN league to finish out the season with. There are 5 teams from the Pacific Coast that are doing the same.
To be clear....Wednesday's game, thanks to the NIFL is postponed yet again until June 19th. We have 3 home games left this year and I know it's easy to get down on the team because of the scheduling screwups and such, but keep in mind.....They had to scramble to get their own TURF on very short notice. We missed a game because of it, but we now have the turf and it's OURS.
The postponement of Wednesday's game is thanks to the LEAGUE not the TEAM. They want to play, but they don't have an opponent...again, thanks to the LEAGUE.
5 Teams have joined together to insure there will be no more postponement of games, no more cancellation of games.....you will see 3 more games in the Colonial Center this season!
Keep the faith, this team is bound for good things next year!

Bill, I will be coming down from Canada on business with the South Carolina NPC between May 25 and June 3, I'd like to attend one of the Stingers games, also may have need of a couple of the Honeybees for PR work at one of the fitness venues I will be working at in Columbia. I have a couple of questions regarding contacts with the team and Honeybees.
Could you contact me? I'll email you my questions.
Thanks!

Wow, the off - field drama of this league has been more exciting than the games. What a soap opera. I'm planning on going to all the games left and next year as well(hopefully)

HOPEFULLY, after this season, the drama will end permanently. UGH. It's been nothing but headaches, and I feel everyone's pain. BUT....you can't always come out of the chute as a winner....you gotta take your lumps and pay your dues. We're paying about 10 years worth of dues right now...we're entitled to a GREAT season next year! RGO - I've emailed you.....

Columbia does not need a AF2 team folks. It cost way too much to join AF 2 and tickets would have to be raised so high up nobody would come.
Suggest Columbia look at WIFL, USIFL, or some other league or form their own. Columbia would have to draw over 6000 a game to make it and arena rent would kill them so no AF 2 team.

Is there a smaller league like the AF2 that use the nets and have the rules of the AFL??

I do not want the "nets personally, I like the idea of the fans keeping the balls. Even if the last 2 games for Columbia have gone against that. I like that the kickers have to kick within the field boundaries, I think it takes more skill to do that than to boot it into a catch-net and have the guy return it from there. I can punt 60 yards, but I doubt I can punt less than 50 and put it exactly where it needs to be put in order to keep it in play and force a return on the ball. I'm 32 years old, fat and out of shape, I can kick a ball, but I can't finesse it any. LOL

yes. there are several options for Columbia if they will be sweet, and get there house in order they would be more than welcome to join the World Indoor football league. We will be having eight teams next year and we would love to have a local brother in the area. Florence would not be welcome because of some falling out and unresolved issues with several current WIFL members so if they flop they are done. I can't even imagine the fun we would have the fellowship and the attendance we could draw with games against the Stingers. We could do all kinds of stuff together and it would be the battle of Interstate 20 cup with us and you. So I personally would love to have you in our league. Off the record wondering how well the AIFA is doing.
