Amen to that. It's a terrible thing to hear about, and I can't even begin to imagine what it's like for the friends and family of those involved. I sincerely hope that you can find peace soon.
That was a disgusting display of selfishness on one person's part. When it all shakes out, I'm inclined to believe that this person will be identified as a "normal, nice, quiet guy" and one who "wouldn't hurt a fly". That's B.S. pure and simple. This is someone that was most likely raised in a house that didn't believe in disciplining their children and who was protected from "life's miseries" as he grew up. Guess what that leads to? Virginia Tech's misery on this occasion.
Ok ok....I'm getting off my soapbox.
I really and truly feel terrible for those involved in today's tragedy and wish the friends and families of the victims the best.

As long as the media and those in the right situation do whats best...put the blame solely on the culprit. It was his decision to do this.
I'm getting tired of seeing scapegoats (which I think you're implying Bill). Don't blame it on video games, or movies, or music, or the fact that little Johnny got his but whipped in 3rd grade and has held an internal grudge on that since). Blame it on the individual who caused this mess.
It's shocking, disgusting, and extremely sad.
And I still haven't been able to get in contact with one of the people I know that works at Virginia Tech....

Amen NCXCSTUD,I have heard people on the news blaming the college president, the security at Va tech and even the gun makers for what happened. Ted Kennedy is going to use this to start another gun control agenda. It was not the presidents fault or the securities fault or the gun makers fault no more than it was cadillacs fault when Ted Kennedy's drunk A drove off that bridge and killed that girl back in the 60's. blame the guy who used a tool (gun) in the wrong manner . There is no way to stop this from happening .Remember the guy who ran over that family with his car at McDonalds? Gonna ban cars? just a tool used the wrong way.if more people carried guns this guy would have been shot before killing so many people. You promote crime by disarming honest people. And a word on the media(on any subject)The media is the root of all problems in the modern world. They will say anything to sell papers or get ratings listen to some of the questions they are asking students at Va tech and think about them most of them are goading people to begin to place blame on someone other than the shooter. It makes me sick but what it is that you cant sue the shooter for $ NCXCSTUD think about how easy you could have done the same thing at Newberry without anyone knowing until it was too late. Who could have stopped you?

Big64 -
Upon hearing about this, the only thing I could think of (besides how terrible it was and that I hoped my friends were OK - Which they are btw!) was, "What would happen if this happened at Newberry?" Someone could almost do twice the damage before word got out that something was happening...it's scary to think about that.

It's bad enough that this happened at a unversity. VT, and most colleges and universities are the size of small towns while classes are in session. There's nothing to prevent some crazed gunman from going to Food Lion, Wal-Mart or a mall to do the same thing. They would probably have more victims because of how wide open those places are. At least at VT, there were doors to classrooms that could be locked.
