61 - 29 is a total thrashing. Thanks in LARGE part to our defense. Those guys played their hearts out tonight. Made smart reads and stayed where they needed to be to make the big plays!
was it 2 or 3 interceptions returned for TD's? 2 Safeies if I remember correctly! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!
And Coach Miller looked like an ol' pro back there as QB....some very smart plays on his part tonight!

You won also because you showed heart. The people of Columbia need to realize that youre here and you are ready to be supported by them. I had no idea myself just how strong Augusta loved the Spartans until I was asked to ride the float in the St Patricks day parade down Broad Street I was moved and can honestly tell you they are less than 25 Spartan posters left at the office. We are tapped out I hope you will be soon.
Okay folks I saw something that needs your attention;
If you desire to fill the stands at every game youre first going to have to do the following
1) Establish a strong relationship with Ft Jackson, Shaw AFB all of you need to realize something just as we have in Augusta military folks control our towns. You must show them love and they will return the favor trust me we do it every single week.
2) The secret to the sucess of Stinger football lies within USC the students youre going to have to work with them either through group sales are something.
3) The bars in and around Columbia provide you with a excellent draw get to know them and they will pay you back.
4) One of the biggest draws you have in Columbia is high school football sugget you invite teams to games and honor them we do it and it works.
5) Get to know Phil Kornbluit with sports talk 800-956-7266 he loves you anyway because he is a big USC fan and some of you need to get on the phone and on his show. Kids this is basic English I send him 6 tickets to a game for giveaways.
6) For the Stingers to be sucessful youre going to have to draw from outside Columbia. No offense but Columbia is just like Augusta time and time again Ive said this Augusta itself wont support Basket weaving. The vast majority of ticket sales from us come from outlying areas.
7) Get to be buddy buddy with out of town papers, radio stations offer them tickets in trade for ads have them do human interest storys on players staff it pays you back they did a piece on me and my ties with the Spartans and pulled 600 out of Edgefield County for a game. Trust me it works
8) Theme nights - such as Nascar night-James Brown Night- military night, Boy Scout night will pack the house think about it we do it
9) Buy 1 G1F ticket specials, The Augusta Spartan Super ticket for visiting teams 1 night hotel logging, 2 game tickets meal for 2 at local resturant $ 75.00 THIS IS A GOOD SPECIAL
10) Take advantage of every last media chance you get it will pay you back

Something else Im proud of Eversince the begining of time in Augusta all of the sports teams have hatted each other. Not anymore for the first time ever I have forged a friendship agreement with The Augusta Greenjackets, Augusta Lynx Fan Club. We work together we are friends and you need to do this also. Also folks the key to Stinger football lies at Batesburg SC you need to get to be friends with B & L High school

From the State Newspaper:
Defense teaches Lions game of takeaway Columbia earns first franchise victory thanks to turnovers and old-is-new QB By CHRIS DEARING - Special to The State
Stingers 61, Lions 27
Before the game, Jacksonville coach David Simmons advised his team, “Hit that bull’s eye, put him back in time.”
He was referring to Columbia player/coach Corey Miller, a former USC star and nine-year NFL veteran. Miller, a linebacker in his pro career, came out of retirement for one game and played quarterback.
It seemed to spark the Stingers as they used a nasty defensive effort for the first win in franchise history in a 61-27 victory against the Lions (0-2) on Saturday night at the Colonial Center.
The Stingers defense put the bull’s eye on the Lions quarterback. They harassed and pressured the two Jacksonville quarterbacks into six turnovers and scored three defensive touchdowns.
“I was a little nervous in the beginning because I hadn’t put the pads on in so long,” the 6-foot-4, 298-pound Miller said. “I knew those guys knew I was playing and was going to be a target. Hopefully my one comeback will help us the rest of the season.”
Miller, 38, has been out of football since after the 2000 season. But the defense and special teams scored 31 points. They nabbed five interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns by former South Carolina players Tremaine Tyler and Brian Elam. There was also a fumble recovery for a score by Curtis Isaac and two safeties.
Isaac’s score with 11 seconds remaining in the half gave Columbia (1-4) the lead for good at 34-27. He fell on the ball in the end zone after Quentin Thompson and Mike Foust forced the fumble. The Stingers scored the final 34 points of the game.
The defense did not allow a second half point and recorded 10 sacks.
“We went out and played as a team,” Tyler said. “The defensive line made it real easy for the DBs. If it wasn’t for them I probably wouldn’t have got those interceptions.”
Tyler’s return set the stage. He stepped in front a pass and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown.
Miller, who finished 7-for-20 for 87 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, tallied the first points in his pro career with a 16-yard pass to Dejarvis Rodgers in the first quarter. He hit Rodgers in stride on a post pattern and after a quick fake, Rodgers easily danced into the end zone. Miller added a 30-yard touchdown pass to Rodgers before calling it a night after three quarters.
The two turnovers were a far cry from the eight turnovers the Stingers had in their last game.
“I had an interception for a touchdown called back (in the NFL) so I guess this is my official touchdown as a pro,” Miller said.
The defense barely allowed the expansion Lions past midfield the rest of the way. Miller thought it was a good way to end the week in which the Stingers had to postpone a game because they did not have the turf field yet and some rumblings of players not being paid on time.
“There were so many negative things in the week and I was just trying to change the atmosphere,” Miller said of his decision to play. “I want to minister to these youths and they’ve bought into it. Hopefully the next four home games will be great.”
