ok, i'm gonna be brutally honest here...i hope i don't step on any toes here...but than again i paid $10 for a ticket, i'm gonna let you know what i think.
1) ol was just as bad tonight as they were at the first home game....NO BLOCKING ABILITY. poor center must be benched...i'm gonna catch slack for that comment cause i think he reads these boards, but dude you were done by the third quarter. nothing personal, but the blocking ability and speed is not there for indoor ball....try semi-pro dude.
2) what is up with the turf? and sponsor banners from florence?
3) poor play calling.....
4) qb could not hit my house from 10 yards away...i was beginning to wonder if he knew the stingers wore black jerseys....dude, someone said he was good in semi-pro.....do us a favor and go back there......play simms.
5) ref's i think were paid off....better yet i think they were baseball umpires trying to officiate a football game.
i hope i don't get to much slack for my post, but come on guys, watch the game tape......coach miller has to wake up and see the weak spots and work on them immediately, or we could face a winless season.

they must rent the turf, week one had Columbus Lions boards and turf. I think they play in WIFL. The Florence Phantoms play in the AIFL

I'm not going to focus on the turf issues right now. I think it's a money saving thing, whether it's by design or simply out of necessity. As long as they can get turf to play on, I'm happy.
The OL didn't do a terrible job all night, the center tonight was not our usual center Chris. Someone else was suited up in his jersey. This guy was not a shotgun snapper, you could tell by all the low snaps he sent back to the QB. I think the blocking was less than adequate overall, but they did give the QB enough time to fire a pass off, or decide to tuck and run. That falls on the QB for not making the decision in time if you ask me.
I really don't want to slam Kent. I think he's got big brass kahunas to stay in there the way he did and get slammed to the turf time after time. I wouldn't want to get hit that way for that long. But....he's not making the right decisions and he's not getting the ball fired off.
I don't see things looking bad really. There are a bunch of issues, and I know that ownership isn't in it for the long haul, but did you see the crowd? Did you talk to any of the fans in attendance? People want this sport to succeed. Maybe in a reincarnation down the road in a new league with new owners, but this game has a chance to thrive in Columbia.
I appreciate the players' efforts tonight, and I think much of the blame for the loss should fall into the Coach's hands, not the players. If you want to win, you will bench a non-performer, regardless of his role within the team, and Coach Miller has not demonstrated he is willing to hurt feelings and bruise egos in an effort to win.

So we rent the turf and boards? Why no net either? I thought the kicking game was the worst! I told one of the coaches after the game that i would kick for beer! The PAT is nothing, ball is put on the 3 you prob kick about a 8 yard field goal come on? If you kick off atleast keep it inbounds i think the prob with the kick off is we have the big guys with just reg turf shoes, they are not wearing a kicking boot.

The kicker last night was not our regular kicker. I don't know where he was, but the man they had kicking for us was obviously not trained to do the job. I even asked the Mascot to go out there and handle kicking duties for them at one point. That probably hurt us as much as the turnovers and penalties did. Still, all in all, a fun time for the family.

I think the turf rental is to save some money. But I think the bigger issue to look at is why rent when if you plan on staying around, you should buy for the long haul? Sometimes in indoor ball, a team will look at getting coaches with local connections hoping to get more people interested in the team in eventually in the stands. Not saying this was the situation here, just a general opionion. On a positive note - The State paper did cover the game last night.

stinger 1, everything you say is true. But you don't know what goes on behinde the scenes. first of all we have no equipment at all. we practice in t shirt and shorts all the time. we haven't been paid. we have no bus, no turf, ect. so basically our contracts were bull nuts. so dont post all this negative crap on here. if you want something done go to the paper about our nutsTY owner. we have all these sponsors the were the hell is our gear??? my semi pro team has more organization than this. so look at it this way. changes start at the top. WE NEED A NEW OWNER...........

stingercenter is correct - there's a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes. I saw last year firsthand how an indoor team can be run. Having been affiliated with a 3A school here in the midlands that school had more organization than Florence was last year. As far as the pleas for a new owner, the only way that will happen is if someone locally comes in and sees the need and local appeal to get that deal done. The lack of equipment, and pay was an issue last year in the AIFA and seems to be a common occurance in the NIFL. You can't really expect a team do well if there's little equipment to practice with and low morale because of no pay.

If they do decide to buy turf and want to save money go ask the team in charleston that got canelled. Stingercenter i agree with you we dont need to post negative stuff on here. From seeing the first 3 final scores, i thought the stingers played well. The only not really negative thing i have is the team does not need to fight after every play. You guys need to be better then them and be the high class club. I also think everyone from the team to some of the fans are new to this. I am from charleston and have seen both teams there. Stingercenter if you know if can help out with the team so it stays in columbia in the long haul tell me who i can talk to?

ok, a charleston fan....i have followed the swampfoxes and the sandsharks last year.....we are currently still in negotiations with the coliseum to let us play there next season, but at $15,000 per game it is hard for any team to play there unless it's the stinkrays....there is a promisary note pending, but all investors back out when they see the price tag. as for the turf and equiptment from the sandsharks.....it's locked away in some storage facility and belongs to al bannister...he is one of the owners/crooks from last year. i would love for a teAm to chucktown, but it won't be anytime soon......

stingercenter.....i do know what goes on behind the scenes....i have been affiliated with numerous teams and i've been on the "inside" of the sandsharks organization.....i told everyone in november when the stingers were announced to the state to be playing in columbia, i said it would not work....the same thing happened to us in charleston last year.....we did have equiptment, but money was dissapearing left and right and it was a struggle to get teams to away games.....believe me when i tell you that i know whats happening and i really feel bad for you guys....chris matthews and earl cameron is friends of mine and i did'nt want this thing to fall through because i'm the one that called earl the friday night before the last practice session to get him to come play.......

if you guys want football to stay in columbia......go to the carolina timberwolves website.....email the head coach steve lett......let him know that you want arena/indoor ball in columbia.......if the colonial center keeps the price right, there are investors wanting to bring an af2 team here.....just thought i'd let everyone know......this is a hint to the fans from me, i also have some more interested investors, former pro players.....but i will keep that to myself for now...
